Mississippians Lose Jobs as Part of Hospital Cuts

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – More than a dozen Mississippians will lose their jobs as part of the cuts announced this week by Memphis based Baptist Memorial Healthcare.

It was confirmed Wednesday that 11 employees at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville and three at  Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany are among the 112 workers being let go.  There were no cuts at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

“While it is difficult to lose any of our talented and valued team members, we are focused on being the high-quality and low coast provider in our region,” said President and CEO Jason Little in a new release.

In addition to the jobs cuts, the 14-hospital company is also tightening its’ budget by reducing supply expenses and eliminating non-essential items.
