LOS ANGELES, Calif.–A well-known face nationally, that had her beginnings in the Magnolia State, won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award Wednesday at the ESPY awards banquet.
Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts won the award after fighting a rare blood-disorder and overcoming it with a bone-marrow transplant from her older sister.
“I’ve learned when fear knocks, to let faith answer the door,” Roberts said during her acceptance speech.
LeBron James presented her on-stage with the plaque.
“My family and dear friends, their unconditional love brings me to tears,” she said.
This is the 20th year the Arthur Ashe award has been handed out in the late tennis-star’s honor.
