Mississippi Weekend: The Blues, Magic, and Mardi Gras

Jackson, Miss– If you’re looking to having some fun this weekend, Mississippi has plenty in store. 

Get creative with the kids at the Children’s Basic Painting Class, starting Saturday, January 9th from 10:00am-12:00pm. It is put on by the DeSoto Arts Council, Banks Mansion, 564 West Commerce St, Hernando. Rose Sitton is teaching. All supplies will be furnished. Cost is $8 for non-members and $5 for members. Then check out the Mississippi Blues Marathon in Jackson. There’s music before, during, and after the race. As with any marathon or half marathon event, the run is contingent on the weather. Enjoy a night out at the beautiful Saenger Theater in Downtown Hattiesburg for an intense, high energy performance from the Crescent Circus duo from New Orleans! This mix of comedy, magic and illusion will keep you on the edge of your seats in suspense. Finally, the Krewe of Legacy is holding their annual Mardi Gras Ball at the Long Beach Civic Center this Friday starting at 5pm. Enjoy a night of food, dancing, music, and letting the good times roll. This is a ticketed, BYOB event.
