JACKSON, Miss.- This is the second year the Mississippi Trucking Association and Truckers Against Trafficking have teamed up to put an end to human trafficking within the state of Mississippi.
“We are delighted to assist Truckers against Trafficking again this year and continue to promote awareness to this horrific crime in our state and country. As an association, we want to continue to do our part to prevent this from happening. I applaud the efforts of this group and we hope this partnership only furthers their fantastic work,” said association president Hal Miller.
The Mississippi Trucking Association (MTA) is honored to announce, for the second year, they have committed to be a Silver Sponsor for Truckers against Trafficking (TAT). The two commit to work to raise awareness throughout their membership about the issue of human trafficking and the need for all companies to train their drivers and employees on how to combat this growing problem.
“In order to combat human trafficking effectively, in any venue and in any meaningful way, funding is required to move the work forward. When state trucking associations, not only use their influence to open doors for us and to get this message before their member companies, but also support TAT’s mission financially, it is invaluable and so needed. We appreciate trucking associations like the Mississippi Trucking Association for their commitment to end this vile exploitation, and their continued financial support that enables TAT’s work to expand,” said Kylla Lanier, TAT Deputy Director.
MTA has trained thousands of drivers in Mississippi based trucking companies to better understand the signs of human trafficking and what to do if there is suspect activity. They work closely with state and local law enforcement agencies to build a stronger network to combat this crime.
