A Mississippi teacher is out of a job after accidentally feeding her students dog treats.
The unnamed teacher at Calhoun City High School thought she was giving students beef jerky during a class birthday party. In reality, it was beef treats intended for dogs, per a report from WTVA.
Dr. Lisa Langford, the superintendent of the Calhoun County School District, confirmed to the TV station that eight children ate “at least a bite” of the dog treats. As one student subsequently came down with a stomachache, the school nurse called in poison control to ensure all the students would be okay.
The school district is said to have immediately alerted parents upon finding out the students had consumed the dog treats.
Langford also confirmed the teacher was relieved of her duties after the incident.
