JACKSON, MISS– Effective immediately, state Supreme Court Justice David Chandler now answers directly to the governor in a new role as the Executive Director of The Division of Family and Children’s Services. (photo by Jackson Free Press)
Governor Phil Bryant made the announcement Monday. In this new position, Chandler will oversee the state’s child welfare and foster care systems. This is the first time that the director of that department is at a level of reporting directly to the governor.
In order to take this position, Chandler will no longer serve in the court.
