After an incredible junior season that saw him win SEC Pitcher of the Year honors, Mississippi State lefthander Ethan Small has become the 15th first round pick in school history. Small was selected by the defending NL Central champion Milwaukee Brewers with the 28th overall selection.

For the season, Small currently sits at 9-2, with a 1.88 ERA and a SEC leading 160 strikeouts to go with only 27 walks. Opposing hitters are batting a paltry .188 against him on the year. Small is the first Bulldog to go in the first round since 2017, when Brent Rooker was taken with the 35th pick overall by the Minnesota Twins. He is scheduled to start game one of this weekend’s Super Regional game on Friday.
