Mississippi State’s Cam Dantzler Declares for NFL Draft, Will Skip Bowl Game

Mississippi State’s Cam Dantzler announced on Friday via Twitter that he would forgo his final year of college eligibility and put his name into the 2020 NFL Draft. A Mississippi State spokesperson confirmed separately that Dantzler would skip the Bulldogs’ upcoming bowl game, ending his career in Starkville.

Dantzler finishes his Bulldog tenure with 108 total tackles and 5 interceptions. Dantzler was a preseason All SEC pick in 2019, and was rated as the third best cornerback in the country by Pro Football Focus. WalterFootball.com lists him as a projected 2nd round pick in the 2020 draft.

Mississippi State is already without senior cornerback Maurice Smitherman, who suffered a season ending injury in mid-October. The Bulldogs will turn to redshirt sophomore Tyler Williams and two true freshmen, Jarrian Jones and Martin Emerson to fill the depth chart for the final game of the 2019 season.
