The student found dead on the campus of Mississippi State University has been identified as Maxwell Curtis Pennebaker.
On Sunday at 1:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual found unresponsive in a vehicle in an on-campus parking lot.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt pronounced the male dead at the scene. Mississippi State confirmed Pennebaker’s identity in a press release on Monday afternoon.
Pennebaker, 19, was a sophomore building construction science major from Madison. The Madison Central graduate was also a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.
Mississippi State is offering counseling to any students or faculty impacted by the incident. No foul play is suspected at this time.
