Mississippi State announced on Tuesday afternoon softball coach Vann Stuedeman would not be returning to Starkville for a ninth season at the helm of the program. Steudeman coached 8 years at MSU, amassing a 276-189 overall mark and a 69-127 SEC regular-season record, taking the program to seven NCAA Tournament appearances. Director of Athletics John Cohen said ““We are grateful to Vann for eight years of service to Mississippi State softball. We appreciate her efforts and contributions to the program. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors. We will move forward immediately with a national search to identify our next head coach.”
Steudeman issued a statement as well, “Mississippi State was a dream job come true, I have enjoyed working with the student-athletes and seeing them develop into strong young women. I am very proud of our success on the field and wish the program all the best moving forward.” Mississippi State will begin the search for a replacement immediately, and there is no word if her assistant coaches Samantha Ricketts and Tyler Bratton will remain on staff at this time.
