Mississippi State did something it had not done since Ron Polk’s first season as skipper of the Diamond Dawgs. State’s hurlers fired a third straight shutout and claimed an important 4-0 midweek win over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.

State got another solid start from Houston Harding, with the junior left-hander going 5 solid innings. He was relieved by Preston Johnson and Landon Sims, who combined for 9 strikeouts in their 4 innings of relief. Overall, the Bulldogs got 17 strikeouts in the game, marking 9 straight games and 11 out of 13 games in total where their pitchers have accumulated double digit strikeouts.

State was efficient with offense, with only 4 hits on the night, two of those coming from Josh Hatcher. The Bulldogs scored 2 in the first inning and 2 in the sixth, the final one coming on a Luke Hancock sacrifice fly that scored Tanner Allen.
Mississippi State will get back to action on Friday, taking on Eastern Michigan in the first of a three game set, first pitch at Dudy Noble Field is set for 6 PM.
