JACKSON, Miss.–If you haven’t gotten your tickets for the Thompson Square show at the Mississippi Coliseum, they are going fast. That’s just the first act at the fair this year. They perform in the Coliseum, but all of the music will only cost you fair admission.
Most of the acts will perform at the Budweiser Pavilion on the Midway. That music kicks off with Genuine Thursday night, and Blue Oyster Cult Friday. Next week’s musical lineup includes The Charlie Daniels Band, Hinder and The Spinners.
“The Spinners. Wow. When have you heard of the Spinners? But, a great show. That’s the one my husband’s excited about,” said Cindy Hyde-Smith, Mississippi agriculture commissioner.
She said as soon as the fair is over, they start working on booking the musical acts for the next year, and that’s how they get well-known national acts.
“I think we’ve really got great entertainment out in the Budweiser Pavillion tent,” said Rick Reno, executive director of the State Fair.
He said all ages and genres are covered, so everyone should have someone they want to go see.
“And then, of course, we’ve got the three great concerts in the coliseum to go with that.”
So, besides the rides and the food and the livestock shows, you can get your fill of music, too.
