STARKVILLE, Miss. – They’re trying to make football safer at Mississippi State.
Researchers at the University are trying to develop a safer helmet in order to reduce or prevent concussions.
MSU Porfessor Mark Horstemeyer told WCBI that they’re changing the shell, face mask and foam liner in order to mediate the shock absorbed when hit.
Horstemeyer says the new helmet will have a ram horn inspired foam lining, magnesium face mask and a kevlar based frame.
The MSU football team will start wearing the helmets this coming spring.
