Mississippi State added another piece to its 2020 signing class with the addition of Keondre Montgomery, the state’s top overall prospect as rated by 247 Sports.
Montgomery picked the Bulldogs over a bevy of offers, including Auburn, Clemson, Seton Hall, and Ole Miss. The 6’6″ wingman told reporters on Tuesday he expects to play the 2 or 3 when he arrives in Starkville. MSU has now signed three small forwards in the 2020 class, with fellow Mississippian Cam Matthews and Tennessee prospect Andersson Garcia joining Montgomery. The class also includes four star point guard Deivon Smith out of Grayson High School in Georgia. State will also be adding grad transfer Jalen Johnson out of the University of Louisiana.
With Montgomery’s addition, MSU has 10 scholarship players set for the 2020-21 season, as the Bulldogs are awaiting the final decision of star sophomore Robert Woodard regarding the NBA Draft. State must remain one scholarship under the limit of 13 due to NCAA violations announced in August.
