After a rain delay pushed game time back nearly five hours, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have won the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional. They now advance to the Super Regional at LSU this weekend.
The loss was a tough one for Southern Miss, who was leading in the second game of the night against the Bulldogs 5-1 in the fifth. The final score was 8-6, Bulldogs.
Mississippi State had to defeat Southern Miss twice Monday in order to clinch the championship. The teams played from 6pm to nearly 1am Tuesday, with only a 55 minute break in between thanks to a rain delay.
This was the second time in USM college baseball history that the Golden Eagles hosted the regional.
