A Mississippi sheriff’s deputy was arrested for driving under the influence and crashing his patrol vehicle on New Year’s Eve.
Ronald Matthew Brown, a deputy with the Walthall County Sheriff’s Office, was involved in a single-vehicle crash along Fordsville Road near the Dexter community and taken into custody. The 45-year-old law enforcement officer was charged with first-degree DUI and driving in more than one lane.
Brown had his bond set at $2,500 but has since bonded out, according to jail records.
On Thursday, Sheriff Kyle Breland confirmed to WDAM that Brown had been terminated after initially being placed on administrative leave. The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the situation.
