The company of the largest cruise ship to ever travel down the Mississippi River is encouraging travelers to take a trip through the historic south in a new Discover More sale.
Over the past two decades, Viking Cruises has provided a variety of bookings across a collection of river, ocean, and expedition voyages, with the Mississippi River being added to the list in 2022.
The vessel, Viking Mississippi, measures 450 feet in length and 75 feet in width and has a total of five decks. In all, the ship can host a maximum of 386 guests in 193 staterooms.
Each room features a balcony or veranda, a king-size bed, a flat-screen television, a mini-bar, and a bathroom with heated floors. A few other features of the ship include a sun terrace with a pool, a café, and a lounge with a bar.
At this time, Viking is offering a 12-day journey titled Heart of the Delta, which immerses travelers in history and heritage from New Orleans to Memphis.
Attendees are invited to attend a Privileged Access Mississippi Delta blues experience in Greenville before hearing the stories of famed musicians and iconic civil rights heroes. Authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine will be served along the way, along with the rhythms of Dixieland jazz, Delta blues, and gospel.
From now until January 31, Viking will offer special fares, up to free airfare, and a $25 deposit on all itineraries, as well as additional savings for both new and returning guests.
“We focus on the destination, and we design travel experiences for the thinking person. This approach has always allowed our guests to discover more history, science, and culture when they travel with us,” Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, explained. “As this new year begins, we look forward to welcoming returning guests back on board, as well as introducing new travelers to the Viking way of exploration.”
Additional expeditions featured in the offer include:
- Viking Homelands (15 days; Stockholm – Bergen)
- Empires of the Mediterranean (10 days; Venice – Athens)
- Rhine Getaway (8 days; Amsterdam – Basel)
- Danube Waltz (8 days; Budapest – Passau)
