JACKSON, Miss. – Thursday will be the thirteenth anniversary of the September 11 Attacks. Across the state Mississippians will have their own way of remembering.
At 8:40 in Hattiesburg, there will be a wreath hanging ceremony at Fire Station #1 on Main Street.
At 11:00 a.m. in D’Iberville, there will be a Day of Remembrance Blood Drive. Then from noon till 5:30 p.m. there will be a memorial service at the L.H. “Red” Barnett Senior Center.
At 11:00 a.m. at St Martin’s High School in Ocean Springs, there will be a memorial tribute performance by choir and theater students. They will present original and published material including a reading of victims’ names.
At 6:00 p.m. in Charleston at the CARE building downtown, there will a showing of the documentary FDNY Dream Bike. The film shares the stories of firemen after 9/11. It was directed by John Allison who lives in Charleston and used to work at the World Trade Center.
