GULFPORT, Miss.- Nearly 340,000 people will receive hundreds of dollars in refunds from Mississippi Power.
WLOX reports officials have announced that there will be a $377 million payout. They have already received thousands of calls from people asking how the money will be given back.
The company raised rates 18% while Kemper County Coal Plant was building. In August State Public Service approved the refund.
From October 12 to 30th customers can go to www.mississippipower.com/refund and select a credit or check option. If a customer does not decide on what to do then they will receive a credit automatically, Bill Snyder a spokesperson for the company told WLOX.
If you were a customer between April 2013 and July 2015 there is a good chance you’re eligible for a refund. These refunds are not only for continued customers, but even those who have since stopped using the service.
For former customers those checks will be mailed to the last address the company has. Snyder said they can contact a customer service representative with a valid ID, their account number, and last four digits of their social security number in order to change that address and receive the refund.
Credits will start appearing November 9th and checks will be issued the same day.
