RIO– A video of a Mississippi Olympian showing respect for the nation’s flag has gone viral.
Ole Miss alum Sam Kendricks stopped mid-event to stand at attention for the national anthem.

Kendricks, an Army Reservist and Oxford, Mississippi native, went on to win the bronze medal in men’s pole vault with a height of 5.85m.
Kendricks qualified for the Olympic Team with the highest pole vault distance in the history of the Team USA tryouts.
“We’ve worked all these years, we’ve done all these competitions, and it’s come into fruition,” said Kendricks. “and there’s the little bit of gratification which is being part of the Olympic team.”
