Within two years of its implementation, the Mississippi Lottery has reached the $1 billion mark in gross sales.
According to Mississippi Lottery Corporation (MLC), $250 million has been returned to the state for roads, bridges, and education since sales began on November 25, 2019.
“Reaching the $1 billion mark is an incredible accomplishment considering the challenges we all faced just three and a half months after we launched,” MLC President Jeff Hewitt said, referring to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020. “Our players have embraced our games, while our lottery retailers and vendors have worked hard to achieve this historic milestone for our organization and Mississippi.”
There are currently 1,800 lottery retailers in the state.
