JACKSON, Miss. – Renowned website, thestreet.com, has ranked Mississippi as American’s third dumbest state.
Researchers looked at factors like education, median household income and average SAT scores to determine rankings. They found that less than two out of 10 Mississippians have Bachelor degrees, the average median household income is just over $37,000 and the average SAT score is 1673. The report also claimed Mississippi had the highest poverty rate in the country at nearly 25%.
West Virginia ranked as the dumbest state in the nation. At number two is Arkansas. Other southern states in the Top 10 include Louisiana, number five; Alabama at number seven; and Tennessee coming in at number 10.
