An escaped inmate from Mississippi is back in police custody after being recovered in Port Arthur, Texas.
Ryan Young was arrested around noon on Monday by the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office once authorities confirmed that the inmate had crossed state lines into Texas.
Young had been spotted near US 190 westbound around Riverstation Road in Louisiana on Saturday night before leading police in a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle. He crashed into a bridge shortly after and escaped on foot.
Prior to his escape, the 28-year-old was serving a 40-year sentence for vehicle and residential burglaries, grand larceny, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
This was the second time he has escaped prison after he was on the run for several days in 2017.
