The Mississippi Highway Patrol is in the midst of its annual Thanksgiving enforcement period, with three fatal crashes being reported from Wednesday alone.
“Wednesday, the opening day, we actually had three fatal crashes on that day,” MHP Captain Chris Turnipseed said on Friday’s episode of The Gallo Show. “So, that kind of started us off on the wrong foot. We’ve kept it pretty quiet since then as far as fatal crashes since then, but that was a bad way to start the travel period.”
As the enforcement period remains underway until Sunday at midnight, MHP officials are encouraging those on the road to stay safe, especially with the wet weather across Mississippi set to stick around throughout most of Friday and Saturday.
The MHP’s full report from the enforcement period will be available Monday.
