One Pascagoula native and her grandson walked away with over $56,000 after successfully guessing the correct phrase during Tuesday night’s episode of Wheel of Fortune.
Retta Alexander and Julian Hernandez, who lives in Arizona, traveled to California to compete in the game show, with the two quickly accumulating nearly $17,000 in prize money before the bonus round.
At the end of the competition, Alexander and Hernandez were presented with the final puzzle in the “place” category, with the screen showing the phrase “_ A N C _ / _ _ _ T _ _ _ E.”
“Well, there are two of you. Feed off each other. It’s a place. You have 10 seconds. Talk it out. Good luck,” host Pat Sajak said.
The two were then given 10 seconds to answer, with Alexander immediately guessing the phrase “fancy boutique.”
“Nice going, guys, congratulations. That was a good solve,” Sajak exclaimed.
Alexander’s answer awarded both competitors an additional $40,000 in prize money, bringing their total takeaway to $56,590.
