Daniel Callihan, the Louisiana man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend before abducting her children and taking them to Mississippi, has been indicted by a grand jury on seven counts.
Callihan allegedly murdered 35-year-old Callie Brunett inside her trailer home in Loranger, La., and kidnapped her two daughters: 4-year-old Erin Brunett and 6-year-old Jalie Brunett. When law enforcement arrested Callihan at a home on Boozier Drive in Jackson on June 13, they also found the body of Erin. Jalie was found alive and transported to a local hospital.
This week, a three-page indictment was released with the following charges being pressed against Callihan: one count of capital murder, three counts of sexual battery, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of receiving stolen property. According to the gruesome filing, Callihan molested Jalie.
During his perp walk on June 14, Callihan admitted to the crimes and asked for the death penalty.
“I have told them everything I did, and I have agreed not to fight it,” Callihan told reporters while being strapped into a police cruiser. “For what I did, lethal injection is the easiest thing for me.”

Callihan went on to partially blame his actions on an anti-depressant while claiming he has dissociative identity disorder, which is when a person has multiple, distinct personalities with the various identities controlling a person’s behavior at different times, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
“I have no reason for what I did,” Callihan said. “All I know is I was sober and only on Lexapro – and off Lexapro – and I’m also diagnosed with multiple personality disorder.”
Since Callihan’s arrest, those once close to Callihan have told various news stations across both Mississippi and Louisiana that Callihan not only terrorized neighbors but was abusive towards his ex-wife, Amber Boyd.
An alleged accomplice, 32-year-old Victoria Cox, has also been arrested and indicted on a capital murder charge.
