Do you think you have what it takes to be the next American Idol? If so, an opportunity to audition will soon be near you.

The Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson announced Friday it will host a talent show on Saturday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 10 with the top five contestants advancing to Nashville to perform in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

In recent years, people with Mississippi ties have made a serious mark on the hit TV show with four contestants – Colin Stough, Zachariah Smith, Deshawn Goncalves, and Hannah Everhart – finishing in the top 24 over the last three seasons. Amory native Trent Harmon won the competition in 2016.
