WASHINGTON – He says they’re unorganized and need oversight.
That’s what Congressman Bennie Thompson thinks about the American Red Cross.
He says following Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, the aid organization struggled and appeared mismanaged.
Thompson has now introduced the “American Red Cross Sunshine Act” which adressess the lack of oversight and recomends ways for improved performance.
The Red Cross says they already have several existing mechanisms in place to evaluate disaster response and want to remind people that the Red Cross in not a federal agency.
