The Mississippi Community College Board has unanimously voted Kell Smith as the agency’s next executive director.
Smith, who has served as interim executive director since July 2021, has been with the MCCB since 2008. He previously worked in the capacity of director of communications and legislative services.
“I am very appreciative of the trust and confidence the board has placed in me,” Smith said. “Mississippi’s community colleges are among our state’s greatest resources. I look forward to working with each of them to help ensure they have the tools and resources needed to serve their students.”
The MCBB oversees the state’s community college system, which consists of 15 schools and educates over 97,400 students annually.
