JACKSON, MISS– Mississippi’s 35 airports will split a $10 million dollar grant from the Department of Transportation for safety and operational improvements.
Senator Thad Cochran, Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, says the money is coming from the Airport and Airway trust fund and will cover new lights, new signs, and refurbishing for runways up to 75% for larger airports and 95% for smaller airports. Golden Triangle Regional Airport getting the most of that cut at $860,000 to make some big upgrades.
