JACKSON, Miss. – A new study from personal finance website WalletHub, found that Mississippi is the 5th worst state for teachers.
The study looked at all 50 states plus the District of Columbia and analyzed 16 key metrics, looking at everything from average starting salary to student to teacher ratio.
Mississippi was in the bottom 10 when it came to the quality of the schools,
public school spending per student, and the 10 year change in teacher salaries.
The median annual salary for teachers in the Magnolia state was ranked 31st.
The best states for teachers were said to be New Jersey, Massachusetts and Illinois.
The worst were Hawaii, West Virginia and Arizona.
