The body of a man who went missing following a September car accident was found in a Columbus lake over the weekend.
Corporal Chris Ware with the Columbus Police Department reported that a Housing Authority maintenance worker discovered the body of Robert Hargrave, who came up missing after a Sept. 29 automobile incident.
The unidentified maintenance worker went down to Lake Norris, near the site where Hargrove had wrecked his car, to take his boat out on the water. While looking around, he found the body under some overhanging trees partially on the land and in the water.
Columbus Fire and Rescue was notified for their boat and personnel. CFD and Coroner Carol Culpepper came out to retrieve the body.
Tattoos and the clothing worn by the deceased male led authorities to identify the person as Hargrave.
An autopsy will be done to confirm the cause of death and solidify DNA confirmation.
