CHIEF KEITH DAVIS, THE NEXT CHAPTER
You probably never thought a police chief could be this popular, but here’s the next chapter in the story of Keith Davis…
Chief Davis, we want you to stay, is the message from Moss Point citizens and the board of alderman. He resigned last week, effective at the end of the month, but police chief Keith Davis is apparently so well-liked, that nobody in Moss Point is having any of it. The alderman rejected his resignation letter and citizens keep writing in to get him to stay.
MURDERED BY HER FIANCE’
Murdered by her fiance’. That’s what police in Columbus, Georgia say happened to Jessica Osborne who moved there from Meridian to live with Vashon Walker. He’s under arrest. She had two little kids and they will likely come home to family in Mississippi.
STARKVILLE ALDERMAN ARRESTED
If you live in Starkville, you might’ve voted for this guy. It’s a DUI charge for Alderman Henry Vaughan, pulled over about 1:30 Thursday morning. Cops said he also didn’t have any proof of insurance.
STATE GAMES
If you’re headed to the State Games in Meridian today, you might want to take one of those little personal fans and some sun tan lotion. Chance of an afternoon storm. Mid 90s. Humid.
SEXSTING SENTENCES
Keeping your kids safe. It was an internet sexsting in north Miss. in 2013 and now people are going to jail. All these guys using the internet to try and lure underage girls. WTVA reporting Garry Waddle, William Henry Michelletti and Jonathon Mark Hayes all getting 10 years Thursday.
HINDS CORRECTIONS SHOOTING
A shooting involving a Hinds County Detention Center employee and another man in the capital city. WAPT reports that police will only confirm that the shooting happened after the two got into it about something, but names and all the other info being held back right now.
COLLEGE BUDGET REQUEST
About $85 million more of your tax dollars. That’s how much the state college board plans to ask state lawmakers for in the budget year 2016. But they’re not asking yet. They put it on hold and might end up asking for a smaller amount.
HOLMES PRESIDENT LEAVING
If you go to Holmes Community College or have a kids that does, that school is losing its president. Dr. Glen Boyce is moving on to a position with the state college board. He’s been president since 2005.
