Miss. News Briefs: Cut Yourself a Slice of Throat; Man Drowns While Fishing

BALDWYN, Miss.–An argument between two men got way too rough Saturday night. One of the men ended up with his throat cut. Here are a few news briefs to start the week:

CUT YOURSELF A SLICE OF THROAT
You’ve heard might makes right. Apparently cutting somebody’s throat is a sure way to win an argument and the police in Baldwyn are looking for the guy with the knife. Two guys were into it Saturday night at the Eagle Gas Station. That’s when one of them cut the other one’s throat while he was sitting in a car. He’s in the hospital. The other one still hiding out somewhere. No names from police.

POND DROWNING
You’ve got to be careful fishing, no matter how old you are. A drowning happened this weekend in Lamar County. It looks like the guy was wetting a hook when he fell in the pond sometime Saturday. Family saw all the gear when they went to look for him. Divers found his body about 4 o’clock yesterday. They haven’t said who it was yet.

INMATES CAQUGHT, ONE STILL LOOSE
Three out of four aint bad? Well, maybe not. That’s how many inmates that escaped from the downtown Hinds County lockup have been caught as of this morning. Kevin Holmes, 17, still loose. They used the old bed sheets tied together to get out a window and off to sweet freedom, however short-lived, Thursday.

CHASE WITH SPIKES
A chase all the way from Tupelo to Amory and Donald Eddy even drove around the spike strips they put down on Hwy. 78, reports WTVA. When they finally got him, police say he had drug paraphenalia. Maybe not a big enough deal to run like that?

MURDER OR ACCIDENT
Scott County. Robbie Stroud, 45, is dead. Run over in her driveway Friday night and the sheriff says the boyfriend did it, right after he dropped her off. Now they’re looking into whether or not it was an accident.

BOLIVAR WRECK KILLS TWO MEMPHIS WOMEN
Bolivar County. Two cars hit at Hwy. 61 and Mound Bayou Rd. Saturday. Gwendolyn Flowers and Sahron Dent, both of Memphis, both dead.
