JACKSON, Miss.–If you thought men respected women in Mississippi, well at least some of them don’t. Here are some surprising news briefs.
ARMED AND DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY TO THE GIRLFRIEND
After you read this story, you’ll understand why the police want Hilton Ross, Jr. off the streets, and he may have been spotted at the Island View Casino in Gulfport over the weekend. Jefferson DFavis County cops say he tried to ram his girlfriends car with a baby inside last Monday. Then he shot at the car and finally pistol whipped the woman. Then he took off into the woods. He’s considered armed and dangerous.
ATTEMPTED MURDER SUICIDE
Shooting his ex-wife in the back and then killing himself with the same gun. That bloody scene, courtesy Matthew Boutwell Friday night in Petal. The girlfriend lived. Boutwell was the former Water and Sewer director for Hattiesburg. That domestic blow-up that ended with the shooting happened at the ex-wife’s mother’s house. Boutwell’s body is in for an autopsy, but cops are pretty sure of what happened.
ROBBERY AFTER BEING FOLLOWED
Maybe if somebody follows you home from the night club, you should call the cops befiore you get ouit of the car. That happened Saturday night in Meridian when a group of folks left Rhythm and Brews and went to their apartment. When they got out, the people following them tried to rob ’em, then shot a woman in the leg. :ooking for a red 2008 Impala with an Alabama tag.
FISHING COULD BE DEADLY
Just out for some fishing Friday, a man hit and killed near the Ross Barnett Reservoir in the Jackson metro. The 60 year old man hit by a car and cops say he had his rod and reel with him.
Also out on the water, a guy went overboard in the Miss. Sound Sunday evening. It was near Horn Island, not quite dark when he fell in and the Dept. of Marine Resources got the call. The Coast Guard and DMR found him and brought hime back alive.
