MADISON, Miss.- Miss Mississippi Laura Lee Lewis was at Walmart and Sam’s Club in Madison on Tuesday thanking customers for donating to the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign.
This year, all donations will be given locally to the Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson. The campaign began on August 29th and customers can make donations at cash registers throughout stores until October 9th.
Walmart and Sam’s Club have been partnering with the network for 28 years and have raised over $750 million for pediatric hospitals.
“Why we are here today is to bring awareness to that fact that these kids need our help,” said Miss Mississippi Laura Lee Lewis. “They need a smile on their face, they need equipment, they need love, they need care, and Children’s Network Hospitals, they do that.”
Each year the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals. They provide 32 million treatments to children every year. These donations allow for treatment and healthcare services, pediatric equipment, and charitable care to be provided for.
“We are always known for helping our communities but Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s is something we go after every year,” said Madison Walmart Store Manager Steve Berks.
The network allows for specialized clinical car for children to be brought to communities across the state. This makes it easier for families to get the treatment they need closer to home.
Donations can be made upon check out at any Walmart or Sam’s Club store.
