JACKSON, Miss.–The state has received a grant for would-be business owners in Mississippi.
The total grant from the U.S. Department of Labor is $356,271 and is to be used for unemployed residents who want to start their own businesses and the hope is that they’ll hire other people.
That money will be used for a permanent “self-employment program” for people in Mississippi.
To get the program off the ground the state will partner with non-profits, businesses, and other government agencies.
