JACKSON, Miss. — Democrats laid down their agenda for the 2014 legislative session at the state capital Wednesday. Some of the measures they will be pushing this year include pay raises for teachers and all state employees, fully funding the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP), legislation that would cover the loss of federal payments to hospitals, and creating more funds to repair roads and bridges.
Last year the Democrats pushed hard for Medicaid expansion under the affordable act. Although expansion was not included in their “official” agenda this year Representative Bobby Moak says “we’re not going to back down on that.”
