Minor league baseball in Mississippi returns this weekend.
The Mississippi Braves will welcome the Montgomery Biscuits to Trustmark Park in Pearl for Opening Weekend, while the Biloxi Shuckers will travel east to Pensacola where they will take on the Wahoos.
The Braves, who went 67-44 and won the Double-A South Championship in 2021, will look to defend their title with 20 returning players and 10 of Atlanta’s top 30 prospects.
“We were fortunate last year that not only the big club in Atlanta but also our guys in Mississippi captured championships,” Mississippi Braves Vice President and General Manager Pete Laven said. “We’ll both be getting our defense of those titles very soon.”
The Shuckers, on the other hand, will try to bounce back from a 45-69 campaign last season. The initial 2022 roster will feature nine of the Milwaukee Brewers’ top 30 prospects, as well as former Ole Miss standout Thomas Dillard.
Biloxi’s home opener will be on Tuesday, April 12 versus the Braves. Check out the full schedules for both teams below.
