JACKSON, Miss.- The Children’s of Mississippi has a capitol campaign going on to raise $100 million dollars for renovations. Eli and Abby Manning have committed $1 million of their own money to the pledge.
Eli, an alumni of the University of Mississippi who went on to play professional football has already helped raise $2.5 million for the Freinds of Children’s Hospital in order to open the Eli Manning Children’s Clinics at Batson Children’s Hospital.
“Abby and I are the parents of three precious daughters,” Eli said, “So we know that the health of your children means everything. We want every family to have the best quality care for their children close to home. That’s why we opened the Eli Manning Children’s Clinics at Batson Children’s Hospital, and that’s why we made this commitment to the future of pediatric care at UMMC.
Board chairman and CEO of Sanderson Farms show their gratitude for the contribution.
“It is a thrill for Kathy and me to work with Eli and Abby Manning on this effort,” Sanderson said. “and we know that, with their energy and passion for making Mississippi a better place, we will make this project a reality.”
The theme of the campaign is “Growing. So they can grow.” It aims to expand and update the neonatal intensive care unit, and add more pediatric ICU rooms and surgical suites. They also hope to create an imaging department just for children and expand the outpatient clinic to be more convenient for families.
