HATTIESBURG, Miss.–The family of Hudson’s Salvage CEO Mickey Hudson said Monday that he did not refuse medical treatment last week when his car was tossed by the tornado that hit Columbia. He checked on the car, which was still driveable, then drove on to his farm. He was in Orange Beach when he woke up sore and decided to go to the hospital.

Mickey Hudson, CEO of Hudson’s Inc., passed away early Saturday morning at South Baldwin Medical Center (SBMC) in Foley, Alabama. He was visiting his home in Orange Beach.
His death was due to internal injuries sustained from the recent tornado in Columbia, MS. He was driving his vehicle on Highway 98 and parked on the side of the road as the storm hit. After the storm passed, he viewed the damage to his vehicle, which was damaged but drivable. Once he calmed down, he continued traveling to his farm in Osyka, MS. He was not cut, bruised, or appeared to have any injuries whatsoever. While in Osyka, he made several repairs and awoke the next morning being sore and stiff. He traveled to his home in Orange Beach on Christmas Day. That evening, he developed difficulty breathing and went to SBMC. After medical examination, he was released to return home. The following day, Mickey’s condition worsened and he sought out his family physician in Orange Beach. He was taken back to SBMC where he received immediate medical attention. Throughout his hospital stay, he was alert and joking with medical personnel. He passed away around 4 a.m. on Saturday. At no time did he refuse medical attention. However, the full extent of his injuries was not known until it was too late.
His wife, children and family realize their father was a well-respected man throughout south Mississippi. The family request time to mourn the passing of their loved one and covet your prayers during this difficult time.
