Mississippi Congressman Michael Guest is leading the charge to expel controversial Representative George Santos from the House after proof emerged he used campaign funds for personal expenses.
The House Ethics Committee, chaired by Guest, on Thursday, released a 56-page report detailing that the New York congressman had filed multiple false reports with the Federal Election Commission.
Santos is accused of using money intended for his campaign for expenditures on trips to a spa, at luxury stores, and even on OnlyFans — an internet content subscription service used primarily by sex workers who produce pornographic content.
With the report shining a light on the allegations of inappropriate spending of the funds, Guest argues that kicking Santos out of the congressional chamber would be justified. Guest plans to file an expulsion resolution to remove Santos from the House on Friday.
“Chairman Guest feels that the evidence uncovered in the committee’s investigation is more than sufficient to warrant punishment and that the most appropriate punishment is expulsion,” a spokesperson for the congressman told SuperTalk Mississippi News. “So, separate from the committee process and his role as chairman, he plans to file an expulsion resolution during tomorrow’s 9 a.m. pro forma session.”
Guest believes there is plenty of information regarding allegations against Santos made available for members to mull over during the upcoming Thanksgiving recess in preparation for a vote to remove Santos from his position.
“Based upon the information that was out there to the public as a whole and the information that we intend to release in the report, that will be enough for members to be able to make a decision as to whether or not it will be proper to expel Representative Santos,” Guest told reporters on Capitol Hill.
Santos, who announced on Thursday that he will not be seeking reelection in 2024, blasted the report on social media, alleging that it was a smear job to tarnish his name and reputation.

Earlier this month, Santos managed to escape expulsion following a motion filed by his GOP colleagues to oust him from the House failed across party lines.
Guest expects another expulsion vote to take place after the upcoming recess.
