The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) has officially concluded its New Year’s Holiday Travel Enforcement Period, reporting 8,037 citations issued across the state in four days.
From Friday, December 30 at 6:00 a.m. to midnight on Monday, January 2, the MHP made 164 arrests for impaired driving and investigated 203 crashes.
During that time, 54 injuries were reported, along with two deaths as a result of two fatal crashes. The crashes occurred on Sunday, January 1 in Neshoba County and Monday, January 2 in Yalobusha County. Both incidents are currently being investigated by the MHP.
