The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is reporting two fatalities following the conclusion of the New Year’s Holiday Enforcement Period.
Throughout the three-day period, troopers responded to 178 crashes, which resulted in 25 injuries and two deaths. The fatal crashes happened in Hinds and DeSoto Counties.
In total, 14,792 citations were issued by MHP. 279 arrests for impaired driving were also made, nearly 100 more than last year.
“Troopers did some very exceptional work this holiday enforcement period,” MHP Captain Criss Turnipseed said. “We are very proud of the efforts our troopers put forth.”
