AMORY, Miss. — A memorial service will be held in Amory Friday for the five South Carolina children found dead in Alabama Tuesday, nearly a week after they were reported missing by their mother.
The grandparents and great grandparents of the children, who live in Amory, say that the Friday memorial will be held at Amory Church of Christ at 1 p.m. The celebration of the children’s lives will include prayers, songs, a slide show and a balloon ceremony.
The father of the children, Timothy Jones, Jr. was arrested on unrelated charges in Smith County, Mississippi, where investigators said he confessed to killing the children and dumping their bodies.
Jones, 32, is expected to be charged in the death of the children. He remains behind bars in Mississippi and is expected to be taken back to South Carolina.
