Following severe weather that trekked across the state Saturday night, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reported thousands of power outages but no injuries.
“There are reports of homes damaged, trees down, roads closed, and power outages due to the storms. Currently, no injuries have been reported,” a press release from MEMA stated, adding the total number of reported outages reached a maximum of 41,000.
As damage surveys and restoration efforts continue, MEMA said counties reporting damage are Chickasaw, Forrest, Itawamba, Lee, Rankin, Wayne, and Walthall.
MEMA encourages people to report any damage through the agency’s online portal. Residents should also file an insurance claim and take photos of any property damage.
