On Monday morning, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Executive Director Greg Michel joined The Gallo Show to talk about the multiple tornados that touched down in the state of Mississippi on Easter Sunday.
According to Michel, the eight tornados went through eighteen counties, leaving eleven dead.
“Right now, we’re tracking eleven fatalities,” Michel said. “My hope is that number doesn’t get any higher.”
Even amidst the COVID-19 breakout, the agency tried to make as many preliminary actions possible.
“Given the challenges that the COVID response has placed on this, we sent additional materials to the counties in the event that they would have to open up shelter,” Michel said.
The severe weather also left over 72,000 without power. To hear Michel’s full interview, click the video below.
