ARLINGTON, Va.–The 50th anniversary of the slaying of civil right’s leader Medgar Evers is approaching.
To commemorate the life of the late Evers a week-long celebration is currently underway and it started Wednesday at Arlington National Cemetery.
Former President Bill Clinton along with Medgar’s widow Myrlie-Evers Williams spoke at the wreath laying where he is buried.
The anniversary of his death on June 12 will see an “International Day of Remembrance” held and a celebration at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Miss.
