Nicole Evers-Everette, the granddaughter of civil rights icons Medgar and Myrlie Evers, has been missing since this past weekend.
A press release from family spokesman Chris Fleming noted that Nicole, or “Niki” as she is called by family and friends, was last seen at her Duluth, Ga. apartment on Sunday and last spoke with her mother at 5:55 p.m. that evening.
Niki’s family urgently asked the public’s help to locate her, expressing further concern that she suffers from a medical condition that requires daily medicine.
“I am worried and terrified for my daughter, Niki. She has not reported to work this week, which is highly unusual,” Reena Evers-Everette, Niki’s mother, said. “We talk regularly, and it is also unusual for me to not be able to reach her.”
Evers-Everette explained that Niki does not have her cell phone, purse, or other personal items that she would typically carry with her. Her car was last seen in McDonough, Ga. on Monday night.
“I am in constant prayer that she is safe and comes back to us soon,” Reena continued. “Timing is critical because Niki has a medical condition that requires medication, which she does not have.”
While the family is working with law enforcement to locate Niki, the public is asked to report any sighting of her or relevant information to the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5700.
“She has a kind soul, a big heart, and a smile that lights up the room,” Reena concluded. “We need all the help we can get to bring her home safely.”
