Tom Holman, a fisheries biologist with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP), has been named Fisheries Biologist of the Year by the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA). Holman was presented the award at the Association’s 72nd annual meeting in Mobile, Alabama.
Holman currently serves as the Fisheries Bureau’s Sport Fish Restoration Program Coordinator overseeing grant application, compliance, and reporting processes for multiple bureau grants and university research grants. He also coordinates MDWFP’s fish hatcheries and aquatic education program, which focuses on youth fishing events.
“This award is a well-deserved tribute to the value and contribution of Tom’s work with the fisheries resources in Mississippi,” said Larry Pugh, Fisheries Bureau Director. “Tom’s experience and knowledge are valuable assets to the Bureau.”
SEAFWA is comprised of fish and wildlife agencies from 15 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
